Chamber Joins Chase, LivingSocial in Program to Help Small Businesses Grow

May 8, 2012

When people talk about what powers the U.S. economy, they’re almost always talking about America’s millions of small businesses.  And it’s for good reason – almost half of the country’s private employment and payroll comes from small businesses.

That’s why the U.S. Chamber is teaming up with Chase and LivingSocial on Mission: Small BusinessSM – providing small businesses with capital and innovative marketing resources to help them grow.  Chase is awarding grants of $250,000 to up to 12 of the country’s best small businesses – totaling as much as $3 million.  Here’s how it works:

Between now and June 30, Chase and LivingSocial are inviting small business owners who have been in business for at least two years and have less than 100 employees to visit to enter the program. Each business will be required to answer questions about why their business is unique, outline a proposed plan for utilizing the grant to grow their business and describe how the business is involved with its community (you can read the Program Rules here).

Whether you’re a small business owner or not, you can show your support for our country’s greatest asset.  Click the “Support” button at and vote for your favorite registered small businesses. For each pledge of support, Chase will add five dollars to the grant pool, up to $3 million.

Firms will need at least 250 eligible votes to be eligible for the program – that’s why Chase and LivingSocial are providing a downloadable media kit to every small business entry.  The kit is designed to help businesses encourage fans and customers to vote for them on the Mission: Small Business site.

Recipients will be chosen by a panel of business experts – which includes Revolution CEO and AOL co-founder Steve Case, Sprinkles Cupcakes founder Candace Nelson and the U.S. Chamber’s David Chavern.

What would you do with $250,000 in additional capital?  Share your dreams in the comments section.  But don’t forget: the deadline is June 30, so register today!
